Playwriting ONE: Beginning (deposit)
ONE: Point of View.
8 weeks
Sunday evenings, 7 pm - 10 pm
September 16 - November 4, 2018
For writers of all levels and experience.
A good play is a succinct, powerful argument for the playwright’s point of view – a singular vision that’s both compelling and self-revealing. If you’re drawn to dramatic writing, you’ve got something important to say (although you may not know yet what it is). This practicum is designed to 1) excavate your point of view; 2) hone it; and 3) share it as fearlessly as possible. As ours is a collaborative art form, we’ll also learn how to generously respond to new work in order to support all artists in process on their own terms. By the course’s end, you’ll have a notebook of fresh material, a dozen new jumping-off points for dramatic writing, and – best of all – an articulable point of view to guide you forward.
Class size is limited. A $50 deposit reserves your place.
The full course costs an additional $150 - $325, on a sliding scale based on (self-reported) financial ability. Payment for the balance of the course is due a week before class begins.
